This Privacy Policy explains how realfarmtalk (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares personal information through realfarmtalk.com (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: email address, username, display name, optional profile fields (region, operation type, bio, avatar URL).
- Content you submit: articles, posts, photos, marketplace listings, Risk Calculator inputs, subscription preferences.
- Membership data: the farm you are a member of and your role.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, referring URL, pages viewed. We use this for security and basic site analytics.
- Cookies and similar technologies: we use strictly-necessary cookies (e.g. to remember your active demo profile during development, and your session token when sign-in lands). We do not currently set advertising cookies.
2. How we use information
- To operate, secure, and maintain the Service.
- To display your User Content to other users on the Service.
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, weekly dispatch if you subscribed, security alerts).
- To comply with our legal obligations.
- To investigate violations of our Terms or applicable law.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers that process data on our behalf under contract, currently including: Supabase (database + auth), Netlify (hosting), Resend (transactional email, if enabled), and n8n (workflow automation, if enabled).
- To comply with law or a valid legal request.
- To protect our rights or the safety of users.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice.
4. International transfers
Personal data is processed in the countries where our service providers operate. Where data leaves your country (e.g. EU/UK data being processed in the US), we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your account and personal information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability, receive a machine-readable copy of your data.
- Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Send requests to privacy@realfarmtalk.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (within 30 days under GDPR, within 45 days under CCPA, etc.).
5.1 EU / UK (GDPR)
Our legal bases for processing are: (a) performance of a contract (operating the Service for you); (b) legitimate interests (security, fraud-prevention, basic analytics); (c) consent (e.g. the weekly dispatch subscription); (d) legal obligation. 5.2 California (CCPA / CPRA)
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. California residents may exercise the rights listed in Section 5 above; we will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
6. Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to support audits, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days after deletion.
7. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, row-level security in our database, and access controls. No system is perfect; we will notify you of any material breach affecting your data within the time required by law.
8. Children
The Service is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Cookies
We list every specific cookie we set, including its purpose, retention, and whether it falls under strictly-necessary, functional, analytics, or marketing, on the dedicated Cookie Policypage. A consent banner appears on first visit; you can change your choices at any time via the “Manage cookies” link in the footer.
We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. If we add any, the Cookie Policy will be updated and a fresh consent prompt will fire before the new cookie is set.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Service.
